    Basingstoke - Old Basing u3a Ballroom dancing group in the Music & Dance faculty. Our group learns Ballroom and Latin American Dances. After a brief warm-up to music at the beginning of the session, tuition is given in new figures from one particular dance (usually repeated over a few weeks) and we then have an opportunity to practise what we have learned. There is a short break for refreshments (bring your own). Time is also allocated for revision and further practice of other dances. The classes are very relaxed and sociable, and the group welcomes couples of all abilities. Anyone without a partner will usually need to find a dancing partner with similar dancing experience before applying to join the Ballroom Dancing Group. Then our small, friendly group could be just what you need to improve your technique and discuss your problems with sympathetic, like-minded writers. Most of our members enjoy writing for fun and we share our writing in a relaxed, supportive setting. While those members with greater expertise willingly provide assistance within the group, this is not a teaching group for absolute beginners. We do expect potential members to be able to demonstrate a knowledge of creative writing or to be able to submit a sample of their work to ensure that the group is suitable. Access to a word processor is highly desirable. Samples of our work are on our Podcast page . People wishing to join the group are requested not to turn up to a meeting but to contact the group leader in the first instance. We usually have six rounds of various quiz questions and a “table” quiz. Teams are selected at random on the day, so you can just come along and join in. It’s competitive but fun, because groups are formed anew each week, so that no-one group starts winning on a regular basis, thus putting others off attending.
