Basingstoke - Old Basing u3a Introduction to Tarot group. This 10 session course will introduce you to the concepts underpinning Tarot, build your understanding and skills through learning and practice within the group. Introduction to Tarot Back to Groups Page Tarot is a visual and symbolic system to understand the principles of life, relationships and personal growth. It can be used in many ways to enhance your understanding of yourself and others as well as life situations. This 10 session course will introduce you to the concepts underpinning Tarot, build your understanding and skills through learning and practice within the group. Expect some practice homework between classes. As this is a class that builds understanding to a specific framework, we appreciate your being able to attend as many classes in person as possible. Group Leader Nina has been a professional Tarot reader and teacher of personal development for over 40 years. Basingstoke - Old Basing u3a Needles and Pins group. We are a very friendly group, so there is lots of chatter and laughter while knitting, drinking tea and coffee and eating biscuits. Needles and Pins Back to Groups Page We are a very friendly group, so there is lots of chatter and laughter while knitting, drinking tea and coffee and eating biscuits. Bring along your own project to do and if you need help, there is always someone willing to assist or teach new things for knitting, crochet, cross stitch, embroidery etc. The emphasis is on having fun, socialising whilst enjoying our hobbies. We try to have a few workshops each year, e.g. Dorset buttons, Christmas decorations and we have special events. Some of us make things for charities, such as blankets/hats and mittens for neo-natal wards or twiddlemuffs for dementia patients. We also do knitted toys for the shoeboxes sent to deprived children. If you want to get involved, then you can use the time to produce items. About our u3a The Basingstoke - Old Basing u3a started in 1999 as Old Basing and District U3A. The original Certificate of Membership of the Third Age Trust is shown below, and the certificate congratulating us on 20 years' membership of the Trust is shown also. Click on either image to view a larger copy of the certificate. Our u3a changed its name in 2008 to reflect its increasing membership more accurately. We now have more than 1,000 members. In 2024, a few of our members (thank you!) kindly put together a digital document reviewing our first 25 years. It includes clips of some of our achievements and groups, and can be viewed by c licking on the last image.

Then our small, friendly group could be just what you need to improve your technique and discuss your problems with sympathetic, like-minded writers. Most of our members enjoy writing for fun and we share our writing in a relaxed, supportive setting. Then our small, friendly group could be just what you need to improve your technique and discuss your problems with sympathetic, like-minded writers. Most of our members enjoy writing for fun and we share our writing in a relaxed, supportive setting. While those members with greater expertise willingly provide assistance within the group, this is not a teaching group for absolute beginners. We do expect potential members to be able to demonstrate a knowledge of creative writing or to be able to submit a sample of their work to ensure that the group is suitable. People wishing to join the group are requested not to turn up to a meeting but to contact the group leader in the first instance. It's great for socialising and will be lots of fun and competitive, even though it's a game of chance. Bingo has the added bonus of keeping the mind sharp. Basingstoke - Old Basing u3a Theatre Group group. Theatre Group Back to Groups Page This is a group for all theatre lovers. Visiting several theatre productions every year, the group will convene shortly after seeing the play to discuss the production, the story, the actors, the sets etc. It's always fun to go with more people and hear other people's views. The group uses a secure app to encourage communication, discussion, and ideas. Members wishing to go to other productions, may also use it to find others interested in joining them. Booking and travel arrangements are the responsibility of members, although in the future, we may introduce block booking arrangements. We also encourage car sharing to help those with transport issues. New board games like Scotland Yard and The Great Game of Britain, and old favourites such as Yahtzee Board games Back to Groups Page Board Games 1 If your memory of board games is Snakes and Ladders or Ludo then the Board Games 1 group can introduce you to a variety of modern games which are fun to play and interesting. Favourites include Scotland Yard and The Great Game of Britain but we have many more. If you’d like to come along to see what we play then contact the group leader to find out when the next meeting is likely to be. Get some practice in ready to beat the grandchildren! Board Games 2 The group will play some of the old family favourites such as Yahtzee or learn more recent games e.g. Ticket to Ride. Get Bit, or Herd Mentality are guaranteed to make you laugh. The objective is to play lots of shorter games in the session rather than the more complicated strategic games. You may find games you want to share with family and friends. The group leader will guide you through the games and make it easy to understand the rules.
