Current activities

During the Covid pandemic, most of our groups have unable to meet in the usual way. However, a number of enterprising groups have been able to meet through Lockdown, often using technology.

However, as the rules have relaxed, all our outdoor groups are fully able to meet face-to-face. Some groups are meeting face-to-face indoors, such as Badminton, Table Tennis, Strings & Things, Quiz group, subject to local restrictions.

There are activities that have been arranged on the national website so please have a look there to see what is on offer too.

On July 19th, England started on Step Four of the Covid Lockdown Exit Road Map. Following updated government and NHS guidance, the national U3A updated its own advice to local U3A groups after 19th July 2021. Please click here to view this advice (in a new window) and then click on option 4.

All groups are now able to meet indoors or outdoors, subject to specific venue restrictions and will be doing so from September 2021. A couple of groups (Literature and German Beginners) have decided to continue on Zoom and the History group is offering a hybrid-style meeting, whereby people can attend the meeting in person or watch it on Zoom.

We held two very successful ‘picnics in the park’ in August, in Stratton Park and Popley Fields, for members on either side of town to celebrate meeting up again.

We are also holding a Meet & Greet event, where you can come and find out about all the activities we run, meet people with the same interests as you and start to make new friends. You can join as many groups as you like, for a full academic year, for just one annual fee of £40!

Here are the details.

2 to 4 pm on Wednesday 8th September at:
