The Mike Thresher Tournament

Each year Basingstoke – Old Basing U3A host an Annual Swiss Teams Bridge Tournament in The Elizabeth Hall, Hook in Hampshire from 11.00 to 17.30. The times are arranged to help those who have a fair distance to travel to be able to return before it gets too late.

Entries are invited from teams of four players. Any U3A group can enter as many teams as they can muster. The entry fee is £64 per team, which includes tea and biscuits on arrival, a Ploughman’s Lunch with pudding and tea and cakes in the afternoon.

Many U3As have a bridge section, but there may well be learners and experienced players who are in U3A for other interests, so if you have a group that plays we will be delighted to welcome them as a team.

Hook is next to junction 5 of the M3 and is easy to reach from other directions. There is sufficient parking space at the Elizabeth Hall. Directions showing how to find the hall together with a map will be provided to all teams who enter.
